Nest Thermostat external C-Wire issue

Post Body

Hi all, I am wiring a nest thermostat with an external c wire AC adapter. Currently the thermostat does work with the existing wires, however it won't connect to my network until it has a working c wire which this system doesn't have.

Because I have an outlet next to the thermostat I'm using an external adapter. What I can't figure out is where to wire the other part of this C wire adapter. There are two wires, one for C and the other I'm unsure of where to put.

The existing wires are all others in the photo except for C wire kit. The question mark is next to the wire I am confused about. This is for AC system control only.

You can install this behind the thermostat. (Just harder to fit in the wall.)

https://support.google.com/googlenest/answer/10523126?hl=en You can download the pro instructions.

It shows being installed near the furnace, but I've done several midlines and one behind the thermostat, because that's where the power socket for the transformer was. They all work fine.

This thermostat is not recommended for direct transformer plug in. (That's the learning models with Rc and Rh.)

For this model it's recommended to get the nest power adapter. https://a.co/d/jdBMf0x this can be used with the transformer you bought if your airhandiler doesn't have a c connection.
