Get AC unit to keep running
Post Body

Iโ€™m having issues with my nest. The AC unit is brand new and isnโ€™t the problem. For some reason, the nest never brings my house down to the targeted temperature. The ac unit itself keeps running and then stopping. Does anyone know how I can get the ac unit to run until the house is down to temp?

Only 2 things you can check at the thermostat that could cause a similar issue.

1) Thermostat temperature not proper, so it keeps thinking it makes temp shutting itself off and then turning itself back on. You can check this by watching it when it runs and seeing if the temperature fluctuates drastically from what it actually is. If this is the case, you may need a new thermostat.

2) weak voltage along wires. Pop off your thermostat, and use a multimeter to check voltage between R and Y. Should be 24 volts AC, if it's anything else you probably have a bad wire connection, damaged wire, ground fault, or bad transformer (transformer is in the air handler).

If both of these check out as being proper. It is guaranteed not the thermostat.
