Post Body

About half a year ago, I got accepted into a graduate program in Canada and I was thrilled. It means that I have to leave my whole life behind (my family, my friends, and my SO) but I get to work on something I love and get paid to do so (not much but livable).

Fast forward to today, I'm in Canada now but I don't expect my university to be in such a small, small city. Everyone is super friendly and supportive but it's impossible to make new friends. People around my age in the city are either married with kids (or cats), been here since forever so they all hang out with their (childhood) friends, or both. I've kinda bumped rn because I miss getting a text from a friend to hang out or just talk but also because I'm excited to meet new people.

But then I remember even back home, I only hang out with with a handful of people. We all know each other for 10 years-ish. My SO is in the same circle so I know everyone he knows and he knows everyone I know. I don't think I make a new friend, who I can text in the middle of night because I can't sleep, in a long time.

So when do people stop actively looking for new friends? A new close friend?
