I have a genetic connective tissue disorder called Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome that effects the skin, organs, joints, and blood vessels. Up until about two years ago, I was a strong, fit guy, running half marathons, benching almost 200 lbs, and squatting almost 300. Since then, I've had a major neck surgery that opened the door for a plethora of symptoms to flood my body. Little did I know I also had a spontaneous cerebral spinal fluid leak in my spine that I'm getting treated for next month.
So many of the people I once called friends have vanished from my life. We see each other on Facebook, but that's it. No messages asking how I'm doing or how this or that procedure/surgery went, just silence. I live in extreme amounts of pain, and even the most powerful pain medications can't help. Living in isolation is really hard, it's depressing, and makes you wonder who you have in your corner fighting for you.
So, I could use a friend or two tonight.
Thanks for reading and listening.
