@neato why do i need to use a Chinese server to login?

i tried logging into my app today and it says it couldn't reach the servers. i checked my firewall logs and saw it was blocking it to china. i removed the policy in place and now it works.
Is there a reason we're using china login servers? this all of a sudden started happening.
EDIT 1:52PM EST : can no longer connect to servers, i think the login servers are down, can anyone confirm?
EDIT: 2:00PM est: servers are confirmed down by neato
