I am agnostic, I don't know if there's an afterlife, I think the reality of life leads to the experience of both a cruel finitude of our fragile bodies and also a kind of supernatural mystery of why we exist at all.
But I have a deep conviction that life would be totally worthless IF there was no afterlife for my individual consciousness, and I'm so convicted about this that I cannot understand atheists claiming that life can still have any value at all.
Anyone else feels the same way about the prospect of death being the ultimate end of your individual consciousness ?
