I moved to Seattle after going to college at Vanderbilt and my style has made me feel like a fish out of water. I’m not too extreme, but am a pretty standard Ralph Lauren and Vineyard Vines wearing guy with chinos and khaki shorts with Sperrys or Oxford dress shoes in the office. I’m big into quarter zips and shawl collared cardigans with some boots in the colder and wet seasons.
I was in a fraternity during my college years, but even the UW and WSU grads here who were in frats have made comments about how I dress different. (Not in an insulting way, these guys have became my friends here in Seattle). I’ve had some co workers comment on how preppy my look is whereas at Vandy my look was normal. My gf attended College of Charleston and when visiting her in college no one looked at me too strange either or when I’m around her family in the New England area.
Do people out West all just wear skateboarding shoes and “athleisure?” Anyone know why even among the Greek guys who went to school out here find my look a bit different? Thanks in advance, boys.
