The next morning I went to the store to get the morning paper, things were still going on as they would have for any normal morning. However on my way past the common I noticed a crowd had formed on it, mesmerized by the cylinder as it continued to unscrew.

Being curious as they were, I too joined them in watching the intriguing foreign object. Just as I started to stare, the Iid popped off. Soon I saw what appeared to be a pair of shiny feet projected from the now unscrewed cylinder.

Two luminous green forward facing eyes stared at us, themselves on what looked like a legless bear-sized Kolshian, writhing about with wet tentacles. Two humans tried to get closer holding a white flag of surrender or a sign of peaceful intention, when suddenly to my horror I saw an energy weapon of some sort start rising on a metal gimbal rising out of the cylinder. My fellow Venliln and I started running just in time as we watched in horror as a bunch of the poor clueless humans were engulfed in flame by this predatory heat ray.

It was then I saw just how similar to Venlil Humans could be for as soon as that first beam was shot the rest of the humans scattered in panic, much like a stampede trying desperately to get away from this strange death just as I was.

To my horror I soon realized we were being played with by whatever controlled that Heatray, like how Arxur toyed with their food on a raid. Looking back I saw Venlil and Human alike just about escape before inevitably being caught by the beam of heat energy, I barely got away and did not stop running until I got back to my home on Mayberry Hill where I wrote down my account for my newspaper then collapsed from exhaustion into a nightmare riddled uneasy sleep.

I awoke to the sounds of hammering metal and arc welders as the invaders began building something in the pit. A searchlight scanned the common for any intruders ready to unleash the heatray on them.

In the afternoon the Military had arrived and formed a cordon outside the perimeter of the common to keep guard of whatever was in the pit. Seemingly oblivious to whatever tech these invaders were capable of.

That evening there was a loud crash and I realized with horror that my home was now within range of the heatray. The next dawn after another restless night, I saw the second cylinder, another shooting stair trailing a green mist that crashed and landed with a flash.
