What to do with short hair?

I cut off all my locs and I buzzed cut my hair! I was bald af for a while and then I started growing it out.

What should I so when my hair is too short to braid, twist, etc, but too long to look neat on its own? Any styling ideas?

My hair is probably an inch long rn!

I tried to do crochet braids with rubber bands and I had to pinch my short hair to section it and it was so tight I couldn't finish adding the hair.

I miss waking up and having my hair done like I felt with locs. Now I wake up and my hair is matted every single day.
