Hiiiii! I really need some to listen and some support. I think I am experiencing traction alopecia. I do have an appointment schedule and I know you guys are not dermatologist. But I am just now figuring out what this is and I am afraid my hair will never come back. I struggle with depression and anxiety so this is a big thing for me to process and it’s paralyzing. I need to feel less alone right now.
I noticed my temples were getting really thin around 18. The only advice that has ever been given to me was to put my hair in a protective style and moisturize. I struggled with regular upkeep because of mental health but always kept my hair protected with wigs and braids. I saw stylists every so often and none of them told me what I was experiencing needed to be treated by a dermatologist (people who claim to specialize in natural hair). I feel terrible knowing that it got this bad and it didn’t have to. I wish I would’ve known. Does my hair look too far gone? Can I recover from this?
I am going through the same thing and posted about it couple days ago here are the responses i got it- https://www.reddit.com/r/Naturalhair/s/VsodjC1pIS
