This week I’ll be finished in digging up a rock garden that’s roughly 12’ x 3’ in front of my North facing house. I’ll be using new soil to fill up the bed and I went fairly deep in digging up the old rock bed. I’m interested in native wildflowers & plants that will attract pollinators. Perennials seem a heck of a lot easier which is a win for me since I won’t have time daily to commit (I’ll commit to getting it started but ultimately I want something as self sustaining as possible).
A lot of the website information shows coving the ground & prepping for a whole year but since I’m starting with new soil I’m not sure this is needed. It’s already near June, can I lay the soil and start planting? I’m completely new & honestly just trying to do something positive for the environment, show my kiddo a good example (she’s definitely interested too!). Thanks in advance to anyone willing to help out.
