This is a north American native from the apocynaceae Family, originally from Oklahoma to Arkansas, I like this very soft, fern like plants , because of 3 reasons, first this is a native plants and also they are very easy to take care and maintain, second, if you have a place you want to plant tulip or other spring bulbs, they come up late and will cover up all the bulbs but not disturb them , third, I like the form of them, erect but not too tall, like a big feather, and also season interest, from bright green with little blue flowers to fall gold and orange foliage, very pretty, they are also good for growing in a mass garden create a ' piet oudolf ' elements garden style, and I have many Asian friends like peonies, and i found out amsonia hubrichtii is the best companion for peonies or some big leafy or tall perennial, they look so soft and soften dark green color and the border, another reason to let homeowners to try native plants, i use it to cover the ugly air con and utility box outdoor , and they are not picky about soil ,and now when the weather is cold, the foliage looks beautiful. And I put a picture in the garden center it grow well with a viburnum tree .
