I feel like the open sharing of mistakes among plant communities makes it so much more accessible. Social media tends to be a highlight reel of big beautiful plants filled with all the pollinators, but nobody shares their stunted bee balm or the cornflower they cultivated to maturity because they misread and thought it said "coneflower".
I will start. MY big mistake was buying and planting tropical milkweed plugs thinking they were Asclepias tuberosa. I claimed to have learned my lesson, but then proceeded to grow tropical milkweed FROM SEED thinking it was Asclepias tuberosa until I saw the signature red flower buds. !!!!! And I have like 15 A. tuberosa plants! I know what they look like!
Anyway share your fuck-ups
