One side of my backyard is heavily infested with field bindweed. What’s the best way to prep that site to plant a “meadow” next year?
Post Body

The tan “dead” part of the picture (please ignore my junk pile lol, it is not long for this world) is the location I’m talking about. I finally got the energy to mow down the 6’ tall prickly lettuce forest and its bindweed compatriots (and got heat exhaustion in the process) but I’m undecided on what to do next. I’m leaning towards solarization because it is so damn hot and that spot gets South sunlight almost the entire day. Ideally, I want to have it ready to start a wildflower/grass meadow next year.

But when I say “infested” with bindweed, I truly mean it. It was so thick that it locked the wheels of my mower up three times.

Should I till the spot prior to laying down black plastic? Really just looking for any suggestions on making this spot viable for something to get started here and not get choked out immediately.
