The M1 Mac Mini and Ram

The M1 Mac Mini isn't capable of upgrading the Ram after purchase and is limited at 16g at the moment. Does the M1 chip architecture negate the need for ram? Was thinking of getting a mac mini and loading it full of ram and but then the new M1 was released. With a Apple Mac mini 3.0GHz i5 you can load 64g of ram into it. I plan to use the new computer for mixing and scoring so i'd be running a ton of tracks from libraries.
