Now that the (REGULAR) season is over...
Let's take a stroll down memory lane, thanks to the RemindMe bot. This was from December when we signed Patrick Corbin, under the troll-y headline "Congrats on Corbin... But..."
Just know that this last season (his contract year) was literally the only year anyone in AZ liked him. He was the king of under-performing his entire career (when he wasn't hurt). He had been EXTREMELY mediocre for the most of his career before this last year...hell, we didn't even pitch him in the playoffs last post-season! Yes he had a REALLY good year last year but, history shows, that last year's all-star season was the anomaly in his otherwise mediocre career.
Just want to for-warn you before you get disappointed with him like our entire fan-base did. Think I am kidding? Look how mediocre-to-bad his career as a whole has been, other than last year.
How'd it turn out?
14 wins... a CGSO... 5.7 WAR...
NL Pitcher Ranks:
T6th in WAR (2 guys you might have heard of ahead of him)
T6th in Wins
8th in ERA, right behind Kershaw
5th in IP
4th in Ks (Scherz, Stras, DeGrom)
I'm sure there are other great stats you stat-minded folks can pull. This is just from a quick glance at Baseball Reference.
Thought this would be some fun off-day content.
DEFINITELY A HUGE DISAPPOINTMENT.
See you tomorrow!
