Yeah, I know it’s not easy to watch this team slip further and further in the standings, but we still have a much better team than a bunch of the others, and we shouldn’t be so quick to hop off the team bus. We had some lofty pre-season expectations and we aren’t meeting them, but we are still at .500 instead of completely tanked, we have some amazing players, and we have good fans that don’t throw shit or start fights in the stands.
We have the best pitcher on the planet, at least a few more weeks (and hopefully much more) of one of the most electrifying power hitters in the game, the most underrated player in baseball, and one of the most exciting rookies to take the field in years. And that’s a lot more than a lot of other fan bases could say.
Yes we want a ring and a trophy but that doesn’t mean we have to throw a pity party when we have an unexpectedly underwhelming season. Our support probably won’t change the outcome of the season but it will change how we feel about it. We can’t help being emotionally invested in this team so we might as well embrace it— all of it— the good and the bad, the happiness and the suck.
So i vote to go back to our Nats theme, because to me, the best National(s) Park is on South Capitol Street.
