Hey everybody. First things first, I’m 24 years old and male.
I’ve had awful sinus issues ever since I was a kid. Took Singulair/Zyrtec every day starting around age 6-7, up until I was 17-18. Had my first surgery at 16, then was given a budesonide rinse to do daily.
Another surgery at 19, then again at 20. Was told by multiple doctors this was something I’d have to live with. Just about every single day throughout high school/early college, my nose was stopped up. It was CONSTANT. The medicine didn’t help that much, rinses didn’t do anything, etc. I’ve fought countless internal battles with myself trying to stop myself from using Afrin and potentially getting addicted, thankfully I never did. Eventually I just figured yeah okay your nose is gonna be stopped up 24/7, deal with it. Deal with never being able to taste anything. Fine.
THEN, I started to get into my fitness. Working out/eating right, the whole 9 yards. A little over a year ago, I stopped eating seed oils, and drastically reduced my daily carb intake. Since that day, I have not had to even think about using afrin. I’ve stopped all medication/nose rinses. I rarely even have to blow my nose now! Yeah every once in a while I’ll get stopped up, but one Zyrtec and 8 hours later, I’m good as new! Anyone that reads this and would like to get a bit more info, feel free to comment or DM me and I’d be happy to answer any more questions you may have.
I realize this may not be the solution for everyone, but it’s certainly helped me. Just wanted to put this out there for anybody else that has exhausted all other options, and has thoughts about removing their nose like I used to! 😂
