Okay, first let me open with I know that the white chakra thing is fanon and add that I don’t even know what the hell it is supposed to be, but here is my idea on what it could be, why Sakumo Hatake was so powerful and how Kakashi can be at that same level as his dad.

So my idea is that the Hatake clan’s white chakra is extremely clean and lends itself to extraordinary chakra control ability. I’m talking only need one hand sign if even that, no wasted chakra so they appear to have much more than they really do, and the flow of it is such that blocking a tenketsu doesn’t affect them too much, as well as high resistance to genjutsu since even the most minor disruption of this flow is noticeable and easily correctable. This lends itself to them being that natural opponents of the Hyuga and the Uchiha as the Uchiha couldn’t copy their moves or trap them and they Hyuga couldn’t shut them down.

For Kakashi especially, once he gets the sharingan he is able to use it as if he were a normal Uchiha without the same level of drawback for his eye being implanted. Now we get into how I think this affects the story, although you are free to take this and do your own thing with it, this is just an idea I had.

What I’m thinking is that when the Uchiha see one who is basically their natural enemy with the sharingan they become really concerned. Fugaku has been close with Sakumo and was willing to just leave him alone, but had to placate his clan. He tells Kakashi that Kakashi must submit to the Uchiha in some way, or risk the wrath of the clan. They ultimately decide that Kakashi will marry into it, which the clan really likes as they see this as a great way to strengthen themselves with his blood. So Kakashi gets a wife and companion and isn’t as broken as he was because now there is someone who will take care of him, or we can take this relationship however we want if you don’t particularly like the whole arrangement.

However, this also cause beef with the Hyuga as they don’t necessarily like seeing their rivals taking in someone they view as a threat to their own clan, so there’s tension there as well.

It can then also be added that maybe he and his wife are then able to adopt Naruto as Kakashi makes the argument that they are the best to control the nine-tails in case something happens, and he still isn’t directly under the Uchiha, so there’s no conspiracy there, although again the Hyuga have concerns.

During the massacre, Itachi stays away from Kakashi as that is a huge risk, seeing as Kakashi in this is actually more powerful than him given experience and natural gifts, and also now Sasuke still has a family that Itachi know will protect him and train him up.

And that’s what I got. If you go the “adopt Naruto” route, it could be interesting to see how Hinata reacts given he is the son of someone she was told to stay away from. Maybe they actually try to make Naruto look like their son, coloring his hair or doing something else along those lines, or maybe if you want extra angst they claim he’s Kakashi’s bastard from a mission during the early parts of the marriage.
