So, earlier tonight, I was in a first date, which a really cool, super attractive girl and the thing that I dreaded the most was going to happen, I could just feel it. My sleepiness and low energy hit about 30 minutes in as we were on our way to this show called Emo Nite, it was so fun. However, when we got there, my energy levels kept dropping, but I was determined to power through. Just willpower and an extra 70mg Vyvanse to get me through and safely back home.
Well, they let some people on stage to dance and stuff. So, we hopped up and started having fun, I’m super awkward but decided I didn’t care and that it would be ok to just let my awkward loose and dance like no one was watching, on stage at a show. Well, we were up there probably 15-20 minutes and all of a sudden my knees got weak and I mean, barely kept myself upright and shaking, weak. I’m on Xywav and stimulants and have never had any cataplexy in my knees or large muscles. All I know was I was nervous at one point at all the eyes looking my way, but trying to just acknowledge that I didn’t have to be nervous and it was actually fun, but for that split second the emotion had me and that’s when my facial muscles kind of didn’t let me smile or anything and then my knees started feeling really weak and shaky.
My date noticed something was off immediately and got me off that stage so fast. I’ll forever be grateful at how well she handled it and how understanding she was about my narcolepsy cutting the night short, she’s super cool.
But my question is: can cataplexy come on years after a narcolepsy diagnosis? Does this sound like cataplexy or just nerves?
Thanks for any help!
