I have posted a few times here as I am currently being worked up for Narcolepsy and am awaiting my appt at USC’s sleep clinic. I hate being the rarity, but anywho...
I am curious if anyone who has been diagnosed with N has trialed Belsomra prior to diagnosis? It is an Orexin (Hypocretin) antagonist (blocker). From everything I have read, it is contraindicated in Narcolepsy as we all know, PWN have little to no Orexin.
As I have the genetic markers, cataplexy, fractured sleep and sleep paralysis, my thoughts are that this would really confirm my diagnosis. Either a) it wouldn’t do anything or b)block what little Orexin I have and worsen my symptoms essentially confirming my suspicions.
I cannot have a formal PSG/MSLT as I have a neurostimulator that cannot he turned off and my neurologist has confirmed that when it is turned on, the signal will mask any meaningful data the study.
Cheers
