I started a new job last week. Since starting, I have almost fallen asleep mid conversation / during training more times than I care to remember. I feel my eyes get heavy, my vision goes blurry / seeing double, I start to see people around the room that don't exist and I often say, write or type something nonsensical. For example, the boss was showing me this financial programme a couple days ago and I mention how "it's just like darts" (it had nothing to do with darts). It's currently the worst it's ever been. No matter how much sleep I get or caffeine I consume, I still find myself fighting to stay awake.
Other things I've said include "what are you doing here?", "Killing them and taking their resources", "that's a bus" and "Charlie has school" all Said to my boss during training out of nowhere during these sleep attacks.
My sleep study is in 3 weeks time. The hospital staff I've seen say it's either narcolepsy or idiopathic hypersomnia. I don't have access to any meds until formal diagnosis. Until then, I need to try to stay awake during the work hours but how do I do it without meds??
