When you ask a question and they respond with something completely unrelated.
Post Body

My bf does this often. I will ask him a simple question and he will give me an answer that makes zero sense instead of just answering the question. I think this has to be a narcissist thing.

He was working in California for a month and has returned but not gotten paid. That's unusual because when he works for this particular company he is always paid on time. I asked him if he spoke with whoever does the payroll and he said "there's blackouts and everything in California, look it up! She probably doesn't have service!" and I said "Yes, I know. Maybe that's why she hasn't gotten around to paying you but has anyone spoken with the lady? Like is she okay? Considering the fires and all that??!!" (we go back forth on this for a couple minutes) and FINALLY after a long convo of basically him lecturing about forest fires, he says "I texted her on Thursday, she said hopefully they will be re-open this week."

Why get me all worked up and delay the answer? Why not just say "yes, she is okay and I should get paid this week".

This is just one example but it happens often, anyone else experience this? Is there a word for it?

I can relate to a lot of this as well. 😫 frustrating!

Makes sense. Ughh

Exactly, it never makes sense and ends with him getting angry and telling me to go away.

Always seems that way for sure

I’m very glad I have kept our bank accounts separate but he is always asking me to send him money. They will take and take.

Yep and he constantly jokes that I make “white people food” (he’s Latino) and that my food is boring, etc. No, it’s just normal everyday things people make for dinner! He just makes me feel like I can’t do anything right. I never had complaints from anyone about my cooking except from him. His kids even prefer my cooking over his. Yet we all smile and say it’s good because of his fragile ego.

Wow he does almost all of these things! So crazy how they are basically all just… the same. I’m speechless. The driving, the stupid cooking that always turns out terrible but they act like they invented a new amazing dish. So many things.
