*TW - threats of suicide
So I ended the relationship earlier this year, he finally moved out in June following a horrendous incident where he threatened to kill himself if I didn't take him back & the police got involved. They were initially investigating harrassment charges following this & he was under conditions not to contact me but the police have since dropped those charges & he's free to do what he wants (within the realms of what I tolerate without calling the police again anyway)
I was initially terrified when I heard this but he hasn't actually contacted me & I finally have some support at work & have been allowed to work from home for a period so I can avoid him (he works in the same building for the same organisation). I had already started the application to the court for divorce as I wanted to get the process started asap & ideally to get certain aspects sorted whilst he was still on police bail but ultimately that didn't work out as it was taking so long.
Anyway yesterday I had a letter confirming that not only had the application been accepted by the court (cue several months before I can go to the next stage) but also that my ex had responded to the application & had not disputed it - this should (I hope) make the whole process a lot easier to sort out which is amazing.
I'm just incredibly surprised that he hasn't contested anything so far. I had mixed emotions reading the letter as I am pleased & relieved but it also brought a wave of sadness & a feeling of this being very very real now (which is good but there's still a lot of healing to do). I'm also half waiting for something else to happen as it feels too good to be true that he's taking this all so easily all of a sudden. But still, overall it has been a good couple of days & I'm moving on at last!!
