Perfect partner issue

My duo and I hit lvl 8 and have been perfect partners for over a year and now they have an option to request a relationship and mine still says we're perfect partners? When they send a request and I click it it just bring me to the perfect partner page.. Don't wanna lost the time we put in already.. Any ideas?
