Needing advice about rates/jobs/contracts

Post Body

Hey guys, I’m trying to figure out what to set my rate as. As of right now, I charge 25/hr in a HCOL area. But I’ve been seeing other nannies with similar experience to mine charging 30-35. I planned on raising my rate after my last family, but that price is definitely scaring people off. I’m also feeling weird about trying to have a contract, because I think that will also scare people off. What’s a reasonable rate to charge in a HCOL area? Also, where are the best places to find jobs? I’ve gone through an agency before and didn’t have the best experience, so I was hoping to do it on my own. But I feel like I need someone to negotiate for me because I’m a pushover and don’t want to make waves lol.
