Background: I nannied for a family for four years and left to teach PreK. Former NP sent the youngest NK to my school and she is in my class.
The Friday before Thanksgiving, we had our first snow day of the year. When the district closes, our preschool closes. I was so glad because my family and I were heading out for vacation and it allowed us to leave earlier than planned.
I got a text from former DB about 7 AM. “Hey do you want to work today?” Uh, dude. It’s a snow day. I get paid for those now. I don’t have to drive in dangerous conditions, I get to go back to sleep for a few extra minutes.
I politely replied, “I have plans today. Getting ready to leave for vacation!”
He responded with, “Vacation?!” Duuuuude. I worked for you for four. freaking. years. I always took the week of thanksgiving off. Anyway, I replied with, “Yes, we are leaving today!”
That was it. No wishes for a safe trip, no thanks maybe next time, no happy thanksgiving, see you when you get back. Congrats, I am now unavailable for babysitting, ever.
