Quick back story: I nanny for three kids, F9, M7, and F4. Part of my job is to take the older two to school in the morning. F4 has preschool M-W and I stay with her to get in my field hours for my ECED degree. Thursday’s I have an online class at 10, so after we drop off the older two, F4 and I go to my house where we can let my dog out, play, snack, and I can do class. Then we go back to her house for lunch and the afternoon. It has worked for a month and a half so far.
This morning, F4 greeted me at the four with “I’m staying here today.” I replied, “Oh, no, we are going to my houses to see the dog! She’s expecting you!”
DB said, “I told her she could stay home today. She doesn’t like being in the car for so long (to drop off the older kids).”
Trying to be polite, I said “I understand, but we are going to my house afterward. That’s our Thursday routine. In addition, the cleaners are coming in a bit and we need to be out of their way.”
DB said, “Well, go drop off the other two and come back and get her.”
Really?! It is snowing. I want to spend as little time on the roads as possible. Coming back to their house after drop off is an additional 10 minutes. Also, I said what I said. Don’t undermine my authority.
ALSO also, I spent a good portion of the day yesterday getting ready for the cleaners. Getting stuff off the floor, running the dishwasher, putting things away, etc. This morning, it was trashed again. And did DB do any picking up whole I was getting the kids to school? Well, no, Mario Kart was more important. So I just left it. The cleaners charge per hour so MB likes the house “ready” when they come. But I’m not wasting my time just to be disrespected. They can pay the extra.
Please don’t comment telling me I need a new job. I know. I’m working on it. I just want to vent before I lose my mind.
