I have never really had a problem with grandma until today
Post Body

Yes, she spoils the NKs and yes, she buys them ridiculous amounts of clothes that don’t fit. Usually it’s mostly harmless. But today...ugh!

M6 spent the weekend with her (the lack of distancing/isolation is another rant) and she brought him back today. F8’s birthday is tomorrow, so GMA is spending the night. By the time they arrived this morning, F8 had finished 80% of her school work and F3 was done except a zoom meeting with her class (20 minutes three times a week). All the kids have a decent amount of school work they are expected to do each day. The family is taking Thursday, Friday, and the weekend off for F8’s birthday, so there’s extra work to do before then.

M6 kept melting down about how much work he had to do. He has ADHD/ASD and redirecting him on a good day takes a lot of work. GMA kept saying “Well, I don’t see why they even have school now. They aren’t learning anything.” and “He already knows this stuff. Why are they making him do it again?”

At one point she started getting out a game for M6 to play. She got him snacks. She offered to read to him. She kept hinting it was lunch time.

During F3’s zoom meeting, GMA kept saying “Well this seems pointless. She’s not learning anything. It’s too loud. Why are they doing yoga?”

When F8 was telling grandma she had to scan in her worksheet and then she would be done, GMA continued with her tirades about technology, the ineffectiveness of distance learning, how her brilliant grandchildren should be outside on this lovely day (it was pouring rain). Thank god I got to leave early for a doctor’s appointment.

It’s going to be a long ass day tomorrow. Send wine.
