My NF is going out of country for the next month so I have put out feelers for supplemental positions, knowing it is not quite the right time to need a month of random employment. I have saved but was hoping for something to supplement a mini vacation for me too since in September I transition to full time school and part time work.
I got a text from a family needing 3-4pm coverage to transport their children roughly 15ish miles to their home.
$240 a month. That is 12$ an hour. Nevermind the fact that I charge $20-25 for one hour gigs since they are so not worth the time, essentially $12 an hour would just cover the gas and wear and tear for me to get the 22-25 miles from my home to the school, drive them 15 more miles home AND THEN go allll the way back to my house.
When I informed the parent what I would charge they wished me good luck and then "informed" me that the going rate for babysitting (not what this job is at all..) is $13.57 an hour.
How specific of a (very wrong) number is that. .57?? Lol. Btw the going rate for a nanny with my experience and in my area is $15-17 an hour. I charge so much because the 1 hour timeframe is in prime time for when families are seeking after care, and I have extensive childcare experience.
Some people, lol. What are some of your more hilarious job offers?
