NK8 (boy) asked me if I have ever been to Canada and then immediately followed up with “could you fit these nuts in your mouth”. Frankly, I was shocked and asked if where he heard that and he said a YouTube video. I don’t think he understands what that implies, but he should not be saying those things. Or am I totally off base? I sent a text to MB relaying what he said and she sent back a question mark. Feeling a little bit crazy and need someone else to tell me that it’s inappropriate, or not. What in the world?
Edit: Thanks for everyone who provided solid advice and added constructively to this. I was so flabbergasted. I’m very grateful to you! I talked to MB about it in person and she was just as shocked as I was. She said she and DB are going to talk to him about it and get on the same page with the rules about YouTube. Apparently DB has been allowing him to watch some YouTube videos, but the house rule is YouTube Kids only.
In the moment I told NK that it was inappropriate and to not say it again.
The people with nothing helpful to say should just scroll on by 🤷♀️

I agree with this- my 7yo charge has a similar habit of repeating gross YouTube stuff but he also hates being cringey so I always look him dead in the eyes and say with a serious voice “dude it’s really gross when kids do that, everyone thinks that’s gross.” He knocks it off pretty quick. To be fair I also praise him highly when he makes funny jokes and always laugh along when he’s being appropriate.
