The plot could work easily without these powers and it would be better without them, the plot I thought basically involves Meliodas absorbing the commandments, and her father taking control of her body, so far all the same as the series, but what I would change is that later from the defeat of the demon king Meliodas did not lose the commandments, only the conscience of the demon king returned to purgatory, Meliodas would continue with his adult form and the powers of the commandments, then he would use his powers to break Elizabeth's curse, but they would find that the curse returned again because the demon king was coming, the edmon king would then come to the real world, intending to possess Meliodas again, so that's where Meliodas would sacrifice his demon king powers to kill his father definitively, so no energy would remain, making him impossible to go back again.
