How do I gently steer my cousin away from a name
Post Body

My cousin is a few years older than me and is currently expecting a girl. She already has a little boy named Fox.

I didn’t know about this until recently, but apparently she decided that she wants to stick with the animal theme and give all of her kids animal names. She likes Bear and Wolf for boys. The problem is, though, she’s having a girl, and didn’t really have anything picked in that instance.

She wants to name her baby Swan. I don’t think this is a good idea. Most of our family doesn’t, either. None of us really know how to tell her without making her defensive. One of my aunts suggested Gazelle, but my cousin said she thinks it’s too close to Giselle and will cause confusion.

Sooo, if anyone has any animal names to suggest that could work for a baby girl, PLEASE share.

I should add, too, that she’s not completely set on the name Swan. It’s just the only real option she thinks she has. Another name she likes, too, is Esme (but she wants to spell it Ezmae), but she doesn’t want to use it because it’s not an animal name. Again, please help!!
