All:
I am curious what you all think of this icon for what my organization calls an "Archived Name" which is a name once used by a person but that such person no longer uses for whatever reason but is only kept around in the system for reference purposes (e.g. if "Loretta A. Modern" gets married and changes her name to "Loretta A. Connors" yet her company's HR department has yet to finish processing the change before allowing Information Technology can update her outgoing email settings all her emails to us still show as "Loretta A. Modern <[[email protected]](mailto:[email protected])>" thus "Loretta A. Modern" is the archived name.
the icon is a grey (disabled) sealed box icon which represents the concept of "archive" or "to store away" with a full-color image of an ID card with a spark (called "New_ID_Card") to symbolize the concept of a name or identity.
What names are to be archived and when they are to be archived is determined by local policy at the organization implementing the software and by any regulations that govern such organization about what kinds of information they must keep and for how long.
I can think of many more uses for "Archived Names" such as:
- Person chooses to change their preferred name (Let's say "Lindsey Lohan" now prefers to be called "Lisa Lohan")
- Person who legally changes their name due to gender transition
- and many others.
Note: Archived names should NEVER be used to refer to a person either directly or in notes, correspondences, etc. but are only intended as a reference.
