OVERVIEW
Letās dive right in. Iām just a relaxed soul who lives on Long Island in New York. I work as a project coordinator in a water/soil testing laboratory. Iām currently taking care of my mom, who fell ill around the time that I graduated in 2019. She isnāt crippled or life-threateningly sick, but there isnāt really anyone else in our family who will take care of her. To that end, Iāve also gotten pretty darn good at housework and cleaning, and I'm on top of my personal bills as well as home expenses, so I feel like Iāve got a handle on this whole adulting thing.
But all work and no play is no way to live, right? I realize that family matters and work have made my life kind of busy and uneventful lately, and I donāt have many people in my area to hang with. I really want to start making changes and exploring new things now that my life is in a relatively stable place. For one thing, Iāve recently gotten a Planet Fitness membership and discovered that I love working out. Of course, Iām still looking for more hobbies to indulge in and cool people to enjoy life with. So donāt be afraid to holler. I donāt bite!
APPEARANCE
Iām pretty tall (6ā3ā) with a lean build so far, but Iām hoping to replace āleanā with āathleticā as soon as I can. Iām African-American, but not super light-skinned or dark-skinned.
HOBBIES & INTERESTS
Going for walks and drives
Working out and learning more about health
Learning about animals and watching animal videos (particularly cats; judge me all you want)
Reading (Iām on a hunt for rustic, realistic/historical fiction kind of novels like Pearl S. Buckās āHouse of Earthā trilogy or more psychedelic or dark works like Haruki Murakamiās Kafka on the Shore or Ozamu Dazaiās No Longer Human.)
Binging documentaries about history, social phenomena, true crime, and nature.
Studying foreign languages (I know 4) as well as learning about foreign countriesā history, culture, and recent/current goings-on
Anime and manga. Iāve followed plenty of classic shounens like Naruto (Iāve never touched Boruto though), Dragon Ball Z, Fullmetal Alchemist, One Punch Man, My Hero Academia, and Attack on Titan, although I want to start looking into more old, experimental, edgy, and lesser-known stuff like Samurai Champloo or Texhnolyze or Mushishi. This extends to independent anime movies. (think 90ās-era, Studio Ghibli-type stuff)
Gaming, although Iām as casual as it gets. All I have is a Switch that I play Smash, Saintās Row, Animal Crossing, and Street Fighter on, although Iām getting more and more interested in fighting games by the day. Iām hoping to get a Playstation sometime in the future.
Art (particularly sketching, although I havenāt really done much of it lately)
Listening to music and playlisting.
WHAT IāM LOOKING FOR
Iām just looking for someone calm and down-to-earth (and hopefully nerdy as well) who I can relax and geek out and goof around with. Someone to enjoy great music and hilarious memes with. Someone to chat/DM with late into the night. Someone I can hang out and watch movies with. Someone whoāll chat my ear off about something sheās passionate about with starry eyes. Whatās absolutely paramount to me is a chill and lowkey attitude. I have to deal with a lot of loud and temperamental people in my life, and Iām really not interested in dealing with more of that type of energy.
That being said, I have no issues whatsoever with someone whoās a bit on the awkward or introverted or unexciting side. Iāve been there, and I can relate. While Iām open to talking with someone whoās far away, it would be especially nice to talk and hang with someone who lives on Long Island as well. Also, I apologize if this sounds superficial, but Iād appreciate it if I could see what you look like as well. I already showed my face, and physical attraction IS a very important part of a successful relationship. Just keeping it real.
Can't wait to hear from you!
