Traded from r/nationals. Here's why the Yankees have a special place in my heart (and economic future?)
Post Body

I see the cavalcade of "I was traded" posts has begun, so I'll make like a Cubs fan (sorry, NL reference - natch) and hop on the bandwagon.

I'm mrgenki. Fun facts about me:

*I'm almost as old as A-Rod, unfortunately.

*I was on Cash Cab in NYC. We won like $4,000 but we had 4 people in the cab. You'll be shocked to learn that the whole thing is pretty much staged.

*I once chased down a train on foot that had departed with all my belongings on it. It was maybe a half mile, running on the tracks to the next station.

*Boston is a shithole city. I really believe this.

I'm glad to have ended up here. I actually lived for several years within about 2 blocks of Yankee Stadium, right here.

This was 2008-2012, so straight through the demolition of the old stadium and construction and opening of the new one.

I still own the apartment and you are all cordially invited to throw up there when you have had 14 too many drinks at Stan's. (Negotiating with my polite but kind of uptight tenant is up to you.)

Or just buy the place from me and live next to the House That Ruth And/Or Turner Construction Built! Aaaand now this is a shitpost. Sorry.

Anyway, we'd go to games now and then and my wife decided she wanted to marry Nick Swisher, which was upsetting.

We had kind of a love/hate relationship with less desirable components of the fan base and the crowding on the 6, but who doesn't, right?

(Bonus fun fact: I now live really close to Nats Park. I guess I have a thing for living near ballparks.)

What's it like rooting for a team with an actual history? Are there really playoff games after the divisional round?

My former team would love to acquire all of your late inning pitchers but is not prepared to give up anything in return so it's really not going to happen.

Go Yankees.

In conclusion, Buck Foston.

Edit: Crowding on the 4. Only been 4 years since I left New York and I've lost all my Real New Yorker cred. DC has made me soft. Although our subway (err "Metro") does catch fire a lot.
