Had an orthopedic Surgeon (NYPD)tell me that I would never be able to go full duty again because of an ACL and meniscus tearโ€ฆ.

ACL is a historic career ender

Talk to the PBA representative at the article to board as well. He should be wealth of information. the DEA and the SBA also have reps down there and when I was on the job, they were all good guys. They would all gladly talk to you even if you weren't in their union.

In that case, my suggestion to you, as somebody who is out on 3/4 and has gone through the article 2 board process... is to make sure that you pick a well known orthopedic surgeon with an excellent reputation. If you're gonna fight to stay on the job, you're gonna have to have your surgeon write a report saying that in his opinion, you are fully, 100% healed and fine to go back to work full duty. And it's got to be an orthopedic surgeon that the article 2 board respects and whose opinion carries some weight.

Anybody that tore their ACL and went back to full duty more than likely wanted to. I did 20 years and I never met anybody that tore ACL that went back to full duty that didn't want to

Definitely didn't realize it was OP was on probation. That absolutely sucks.

Yes, I clarified that it's a career ender if you wanted it to be
