Should finding a sublet be this hard?

Post Body

Hi all. Canadian, woman, a cat-mom, been looking for sublets/ month to month with not much luck. The two people who allowed viewings rejected me. The first one had probably had her mind set on someone she’d met before me, and the other one is a property management company which it appears they have been rejecting pretty much everyone they meet. I suggested I provided guarantor documents but they refused.

I understand I don’t have US based credit history or income to show, but I had heard a guarantor sufficed. Could I be doing something wrong? Would you have any suggestions for folks moving from overseas? Really been struggling here.

Neighbourhoods: Bushwick/Bedford-Stuyvesant/ Williamsburg/GreenPoint/West Harlem Budget: $1600 including utilities Bank statement: USD 24,000 Guarantor income: USD 160,000
