26M LGBTQ looking for room in HK/UWS

hey everyone, I’m Brazilian and will be moving to NYC mid-august to do a secondment in a non-profit for 1-year. They’re located in Inwood/Bronx but I’m looking for something around HK/UWS to enjoy the city. I’m pretty chill, looking to have a friend but ok to also just share, very clean and have shared an apartment in college with 4 other people, so very used to keeping it to myself (I like to have friends over sometimes) Prefer to share with a LGBTQ friendly roommate As I never lived in the US ideally I’m looking for someone with a spare room/lease takeover, as I have no credit score and migh tmake things more difficult, but I’ll be receiving a not great but solid compensation. My budget is 2-2.5K
