Having trouble finding an apartment or roommates

I am having trouble finding an apartment. I have looked on the Facebook groups but can’t find leads that follow through. The only options I’ve had so far are those rent by room from agencies that inflate the prices of the units.
I’m trying to find a room in Williamsburg or west manhattan near midtown. A lot of places I could live but I first need to find roommates with the similar budget of up to $1800 a month and preferable around my age or queer.
