Please let me know of this isn't the correct place to post this!

I'm signing up for a sub-lease with a friend of a few years. I would be paying them half the rent and they would then include both halves and send it to the building.

Do I, as a sub-leaser, have a right to request to see the lease before signing the roommate rental agreement? There are rules on the agreement, but I have no information on the building, the building owner, who to get in touch with (beyond the super for building issues) should there be rent payment issues and etc.

In essence; where is my protection should the main lease holder not pay or choose to move out while I'm sub-leasing?
