I’ve seen a lot of discussion around the injuries that we’ve suffered. Which is frankly unprecedented.
Interestingly the above infographic came into my newsfeed. (I work in healthcare, ex football and still friends work in elite SEM).
This study confirms what anecdotally we’ve always felt. Plus I felt on our situation.
Bruce in particular played a completely different style. Players were not conditioned for anything beyond a kick about and golf. Howe came in, changed that up for the better. It shows that it takes a while for this adaptation to change, throw in European football, uncontrolled injuries (contact injuries etc) and we are now in our situation. Playing catch up in a congested schedule. If they get continuity and a philosophy in place, I think this freak of a situation will calm down.
This is a club in massive transition. It takes time. Adaptation doesn’t happen overnight
