“They’re here!” A voice cried out as three of Dallas’s finest cheerleaders walked into the small clothing donation facility. Dressed in their iconic royal blue and white uniforms, they arrived ready to lend a helpful hand in processing donations. Little did anyone know how helpful one of them would be.

I couldn’t take my eyes off you from the moment you arrived. The way your uniform sparkled, the way you glided through the room, greeting each one of our volunteers, it was magnetic. In the room full of reporters, photographers, and volunteers, you were the only one I could see.

My station was the last one on your visit. I quickly cleaned up my area as you and your cheer mates walked over. I tried to keep my heart beat in check as I explained my role in the donation process. After a few minutes of light banter you were off on your way. It all happened so fast.

“Take fifteen, then we’ll wrap it up.” Said the cheer coordinator. I watched on as you walked towards our small break room in the back of the facility. ‘It’s now or never’ I thought, scrambling out from behind my station.

I jogged down the hallway and slid into the break room, closing the door behind me. “Uhh, Hi!” My shaky voice cracked just as you looked up from pouring yourself a cup of coffee.
