What are some ideas of ways to get community hours?

I currently volunteer at my church at the childrens ministry and Iāve been doing it for over a year but it feels like it doesnāt count. Itās a small church so I donāt have service hours logged for it and I feel a bit guilty asking my pastor to write a letter of recommendation because I know they donāt believe in Greek and think itās ādemonicā I was wondering what other ways do you suggest to get service hours??
