I live in Marlboro NJ. I have been waiting 7 friggin months for a pistol permit. I’ve reached out to the department in many ways and all I get back is “we are backlogged we will get to you when we get to you”.
I have never experienced anything like this. No one in the PD is willing to answer your questions or even talk to you. If you don’t believe me go on their website and call the FID division. You get a pre recorded message saying “we are processing a large number of applications. Do not email or leave a message as we will ignore it.
I spoke to a very nice female officer that basically said the same thing in a nicer way, but as a former LEO and someone who’s familiar with the process I’m going mad. I will be moving soon (out of state) and already paid for a gun that’s being held.
I honestly have no recourse that I can think of without there being arbitrary, punitive actions taken against me.
It’s been over a decade since I last applied for a pistol permit and nothing has changed in my criminal background. I’m terrified that because I’ve seen a psychiatrist in that time that I’m being held up.
I’ve emailed the chief, talked to random officers and have just been patient but 7 months is beyond the pail. What should I do?
