So I have a Como Tomo bottle that we’ve been using in the NICU for like 2 weeks now and my baby has been doing great on it. The first few times it was used speech was present to make sure it was good for baby to use since it does have a squishy body and those sometimes can cause issues. Speech said no he did great on it and that I held it perfectly and they saw no problems with this bottle being used. And baby has done great on it. This bottle has yielded the best results from all the bottles I’ve brought up there.

The Dr for this past week though for some reason has developed some sort of obsession over this bottle. He’s had speech come and observe baby eat from this bottle like 4-5 times already and every time speech is like no he does great with this bottle. Him dropping his o2 is not in correlation to the bottle being used. But for some unknown reason he’s now changed the bottle to a hospital bottle which will actually cause problems because we were using those between trying different bottles I would bring up and the flow is just too fast for him to handle right now. And he isn’t letting the nurses use the bottle I’ve got up there.

So now I have to go a buy yet another freaking bottle to try so he doesn’t end up staying there even longer due to the obsession over a bottle that causes no problems leading to the use of a bottle that does in fact cause problems.

This Dr is acting like he drops his o2 every time he eats and only when he eats which as far as I’m being told is not the case. He does drop his o2 during a feed or two but it’s a very brief drop and his o2 for the most part doesn’t go that low anyways. The big events that have been happening are after he’s laid back down. And that’s when his heart rate and his o2 drop and drop majorly. And from his own words he says that this is just due to him being a premie because they did all sorts of tests yesterday to rule out any outside problems that could be making him decline. So why is he so focused on a bottle that’s been observed several times to be fine and not causing the major events.
