Playing rivals as a new player?

What’s up with HUT rivals? I’m new to HUT and not that good but it seems like every rivals game I play I get out shot 20-3 and lose 6-0… it looks like rivals has a ranking system and was hoping to play against players my skill level but that’s not happening? Any help?
