Why does the driving feel so ‘stiff’?

Just got the game on PS because it’s on sale and I’m loving the customisation so far and the cars look amazing but why does the handling feel so stiff and it feels like it kind of drives for you in certain parts? I don’t know how to explain it well but the actual driving feels quite bad which sucks because everything else on the game looks good
