Just one of my thought going into the 2020 draft. These guys have a lot of similarities as far as QB prospects go. Big, sturdy, strong armed pocket passers who spent 4 total years each in a pro style system in Power 5 conferences. Both also don't offer much in the way of mobility. Obviously, Eason has the edge and been a known name since he was a high schooler. A 5* recruit who started as a true freshmen at Georgia who unfortunately got hurt as a sophomore and was then replaced and held off by Frohm. Meanwhile, Stanley won the backup job as a true freshman to CJ Beathard and took over his sophomore year and had 3 solid, yet unspectacular seasons.
As an Iowa fan, I see him being anywhere between a 4th-7th round pick and as a career back up who can spot start. His lack of mobility, lack of great pocket awareness, and accuracy problems have plagued him his entire career without a large improvement in those areas. His career 58% completing percentage while never breaking 60% is probably the biggest red flag.
Eason shares some of these negatives, lack of mobility, not amazing accuracy, but better than Stanley's but overall still has a higher floor, ceiling. They had around the same 55% completion percentages as freshmen, but Eason's was just over 64% this past year and Stanley virtually matched his junior campaign with another 59% season for the 2019 season.
Anyways just a thought on two quarterbacks in the 2020 NFL draft that share quite a few similarities and who I imagine both start the season on NFL rosters. As a Colts fan, I'd be happy getting Eason in the 2nd round to groom as a QB for the future sitting for a year behind Rivers in Reich's system.
