I’ve got enough info from a lot of teams but fans of the following teams: Falcons, Texans, Jaguars
I could use more info from you guys.
Anyways, I wanted to ask you guys and each of the other NFL fan bases, some questions regarding the status of your roster, and they are as follows:
What are your biggest needs currently for your roster? Try and be specific about this eg. 3T IDL or Slot CB
What type of offensive/defensive systems or schemes does your coaches prefer using?
What are your biggest needs in following seasons which could be as a result of upcoming contract extension or age? eg. Packers drafting Love to replace Rodgers.
Let’s spread some knowledge.
Patriots
Top tier needs (probably will be picked rounds 1-3)
Outside linebacker: with the departure of both kyle van noy and jamie collins, our amazing linebacking core from last season is now looking like a weak slot on our defense. Wouldn’t be surprised if we went OLB round 1-2
Tight End: gronk retired a year ago and we still haven’t found someone to replace him yet, seems like belicheck will use the draft but he might wait until the later rounds even though it’s a huge need.
Defensive Tackle: this has been a fairly week position for the pats for several years now, last above average dt we had was vince wilfork. With malcom brown and danny shelton leaving the past two offseasons, we have a huge gap at dt now
Secondary needs (probably picks rounds 4-7 or fa)
Quarterback: while some mock drafts have us taking a qb round 1, I don’t see it happening as all the reports I’ve heard said that the pats trust stidham to come in and by the guy and do a solid job replacing brady. I really don’t see us taking a qb earlier than round 4 unless tua falls to us or something like that
Free Safety: devin mccourty did sign a new contract in the offseason, but he is 32, turning 33 in august, and will likely retire at the end of this season. We’re probably gonna take a replacement for him in the later rounds unless grant delpit is available in round 1
Wide Receiver: Sanu’s contract expires at the end of this year and that leaves a 33 year old julian edelman, n’keal harry and jakobi myers as our only wr on the team. Will probably be some white receiver from some small school if we’re being honest here
Other possible picks
C, RB, DE, CB, OLB(yes again)
Offensive/Defensives Schemes
Our offense is gonna run a lot differently with brady gone, I see us running the ball a lot more and probably going a bit more up tempo to keep stidham in a groove, still lots of short passes and play action. I could see us running a lot of 2 back formations this year as our wr core isn’t that deep
On defense, we run a base 3-4, which is why olb is our biggest need, probably won’t change too much from last year, a lot of man to man and bringing pressure on 3rd downs
Hope that helps you out, I’d love to see the document when you’re finished!
I agree, but in the end I trust Belichick and the staff to do what’s best for the team. They do this for a living, while I just make fun of the Cowboys on reddit.
We did sign adrian phillips who plays SS, he’s only 28 so if he stays healthy he can replace chung. We always just seem to make it work with whatever DL we have, so I’m not as worried about that as I am with OLB and TE.

Yea you’re right, I added it under other possible picks because we could always pick someone up in fa but I wouldn’t be surprised if we used a late round pick on a center
